Abstract

The article presents the results of an evaluation of the clinical efficacy of cholecalciferol in the combination treatment of bronchial asthma in children. Sixty children with bronchial asthma were examined. All patients were prescribed cholecalciferol in addition to standard therapy. Serum levels of the metabolite 25(OH)D were measured in all children. A post-treatment clinical efficacy study revealed an increase in vitamin D levels. Children demonstrated an improvement in the course of the disease: a decrease in the number of exacerbations per year, a decrease in the number of night attacks, a reduction in the length of hospital stay, shorter resolution of attacks, a significant reduction in the duration of dry and wet cough, and a reduction in the duration of dyspnea, cyanosis of the nasolabial triangle, and oral wheezing.
